Science Lab

This class was taught by Mrs.
Gentry, fourth grade teacher at
Arcola Elementary. During the
first week, students learned that
science can be a blast by
experimenting with rocket "fuels"
and testing them out in mini
rockets.

Students also concocted Oobleck
and fizzy bath bombs.

One challenge was to create a
force that would move a "vehicle"
down a string tied between two
chairs. Students pooled their
ideas and tested them out until
the mission was accomplished.

Students also enjoyed exloring
with various magnets.

Students were also presented with
a fun challenge on the final day:
to develop a simple machine made
out of various spare parts that
would launch water balloons.

The first invention was modeled
after a slingshot.

The second one worked by using a
fulcrum made out of scrap wood
and a tennis racquet used as the
lever.
