About The Teacher
**PLEASE CHECK OUT THE ANNOUNCEMENTS PAGE and the NEWSLETTERS, FORMS SECTION FOR IMPORTANT UPDATES** Welcome to the Virginia Peninsula District PTA website. We are here to serve all the units and members of the Peninsula District. We cover the areas of Gloucester, Hampton, Newport News, York County, Williamsburg/James City County and Poquoson. If you need anything, it is our pleasure to serve you. We are the hardest working district in Virginia! If you have any questions or concerns, please contact Jean Farrar, Peninsula District Director by clicking the mailbox in the upper right hand side of this page. What does the PTA do? PTAs and PTA's work for children, meet together, study problems, support teachers, volunteer in schools, attend workshops on parenting and become informed on issues regarding children. Why should I join PTA? Because of your children and your community. Membership in the PTA provides your child and other children around you with a greater chance of achieving in school. Studies have proven that. Being a PTA member, you are more likely to be an informed and involved parent. More than ever, it is important for parents to know ways to keep children safe, trouble free and involved in school. The PTA is the best place to do that. How can I benefit? The PTA provides opportunities to meet and talk with other parents who have the same concerns as you. Being part of a group results in parental support and makes school involvement easier. The PTA also provides educational opportunities at the local as well as state level. The PTA will introduce you to a great variety of new activities and opportunities to share your talents. No job is too big or too small for PTA volunteers. Each job helps children, and each volunteer strengthens the PTA. ============================================================================== PENINSULA DISTRICT PTA BOARD 2009-2010 OFFICERS District Director Jean Farrar 757-872-7736 peninsuladd@vapta.org 18 Island View Drive Newport News 23602 Assistant District Director Barbara Good 757-871-7262 peninsulaDD_asst@vapta.org 735 Beach Road Hampton 23664 Secretary/Treasurer Mary-Jo Padula 757-220-4657 mpadula@ycsd.york.va.us 757-784-4836 lvlites0615@cox.net 105 Flintlock Road Williamsburg 23185 COMMITTEE CHAIRS Bylaws Jean Farrar 757-872-7736 Citizenship Essay Chair Jannie Bazemore 757-247-5053 justblondell6@aol.com 757-407-6226 1004 Hampton Avenue Newport News 23607 Legislation Dave Howard 757-303-3381 dhoward255@cox.net 757-764-3559 804 N.
