The Peninsula District Secondary PTA Volunteer of the Year winner, Moné
Gilliam, has been selected as the winner for that same division for the
Virginia State PTA! Mone will be presented with her honor at the Virginia
PTA State convention on November 14.

Congratulations to Mone and her school Spratley Middle!

We are proud of all of our Volunteers, please take the time to nominate one
this year. Our deadline for entries from our councils is March 15.

As in previous years our nomination form is the same as the one we use for
the Virginia State Volunteer of the Year. This form should be updated by
January 1, 2010.

Each council is urged to participate by sending in their first place winners
for both elementary and secondary. If you have further questions, please
contact Jennifer at the numbers or email above for more information.

CONGRATULATIONS TO THE FOLLOWING PENINSULA DISTRICT VOLUNTEERS OF THE YEAR.

Volunteer of the Year 2009 Winners Announced!

The elementary volunteer of the year is Deborah Griffin of Merrimack
Elementary School in the Hampton Council. Deborah constantly goes above and
beyond her assigned duties as treasurer to provide motivation and morale
boosts to everyone. She is dynamic, both as a concerned and involved parent
and as a board member, and is the driving force behind all PTA efforts

Moné Gilliam from Spratley Middle School in the Hampton Council is the
secondary volunteer of the year. A year ago, Moné decided to restart the PTA
at Spratley and undertook that tremendous job with assistance from the
Hampton Council PTA. By the end of September, she had the PTA back in good
standing, with a full slate of officers elected and off to a great start!

Good Luck to both Moné and Deborah in the State PTA volunteer of the year
competition!
