PROFESSIONAL: 

I serve as principal at Woodruff Primary School. Before becoming principal, 
I served as assistant principal for seven years and taught kindergarten here 
for fourteen years. I love working at Woodruff Primary School because I have 
the opportunity to work with young children and concentrate on their 
specific needs during this very important time in their lives. As an early 
childhood educator, I find that very exciting. 

I love to learn new things. I am interested in many different topics and 
consider myself a lifelong learner. I completed my undergraduate degree 
(B.A.) in early childhood from USC Upstate. I received the M.Ed. in 
Elementary Education from Converse College. Then I received the M.Ed. in 
Education Administration from the University of South Carolina. I am 
currently enrolled in the doctoral program for Curriculum and Instruction 
at the University of South Carolina. I look forward to learning more about 
curriculum through this in-depth program.

PERSONAL:

I am married to John McAbee. He is a fourth grade teacher at Woodruff 
Elementary School. We have been married 25 years and have a son named Joseph 
who is a freshman at Wofford College. Go Terriers!

My favorite things to do in my free time include reading, watching British 
movies, attending musicals, and traveling. We travel a great deal in the 
summers. In fact, we have traveled in 49 of the 50 states. We hope to 
complete the last state (Alaska) in the next couple of years.

Woodruff Primary School is a wonderful place for young children to grow and 
learn together. I am very thankful that I have the opportunity to work here.
