I want to continue building a complete program from elementary through high
school. I expect team members to give maximum effort at all times. They are
part of a team and are expected to support their team on and off the court.
The goal is to learn something new everyday and to only make a mistake once-
if we can accomplish those things, I feel that we will be moving into a
championship direction. Great teams are not only made with ability, but with
attitude, effort, and academics.
I will be the first to tell you that I think there should be more three sport
athletes in the world. By specializing, you become stagnant and burnt out.
Coaches need to ask themselves-How many of my athletes play college
volleyball? How many of them graduate with degrees and still play
volleyball? Too many times, I have heard of any athlete that goes off to
college on an athletic scholarship-and is so burnt out-that they stop playing
and switch colleges. All coaches should look at the broad picture for each
athlete...not the immediate success. I will never tell an athlete to quit
another sport. Having said that, you must make volleyball a priority when we
are in season. I make this program a priority in my life, and I expect the
same from you. I will always be honest with you and your parents, and my
door is always open. I expect honesty in return.
The program has very knowledgeable and approachable coaches. I am VERY happy
with the coaching staff and expect great things from them. They are strong
female role models for the young ladies in our care.
Finally, I don't just dream of a FAVC Scarlet division championship. I want
a program and a feeder system. I want to win a District championship and
move even further in the state tournament-none of these things can be
accomplished by one person. It takes a dedicated group of people to
accomplish great things. It takes everyone, working in the same direction
and believing that greatness is attainable, not just one person's dream.
