Nancy Iversen is the County Representative for District 8, the Town of Otsego. She serves on the Administration Committee, and the Health, Education and Agriculture Committee, as well as the ad hoc Intra-employee Relations Committee. Nancy has also served on the Intergovernmental Affairs Committee. She is the County Board's representative on the Boards of Directors for the Otsego County Soil and Water Conservation District and the Otsego County Cornell Cooperative Extension. Before serving as a County Representative, Nancy served the Town of Otsego as a Town Councilman for eight years. Nancy has lived in Otsego County for more than thirty years. She is married to Bob Iversen who owns and operates Iversen Electric, a local electrical contracting business. Nancy owns and operates Lake and County Cottages, a small lodging business on Otsego Lake. The Iversens have two children and three grandchildren. Nancy is a former high school biology teacher. She coached tennis and cheerleading, and served as advisor to the sophomore class, as well as the Science Olympiad and Envirothon Teams. Nancy also served as a National Honor Society Committee member, Science Department Chairman and NYSUT building representative and grievance chairman before retiring in 2004. She now serves as a field supervisor for high school science student teachers from SUCO. Nancy is a community volunteer through several organizations. She has done design work for the Community Garden and the CCS Memory Garden, where she sometimes works as a volunteer gardener. She has served as a Holiday Bell Ringer for the Salvation Army, and has volunteered at the Otsego Lake Festival, the Town Tire and Appliance Collection Day, the Lake Clean Up Day, the LaCava Nature Center Work Day, and other events. She is serving as a volunteer Master Gardener this yearon the help line at Cooperative Extension, and is also active in the Pierstown Grange. Nancy holds a BA from Hofstra University and an MS from SUNY Oneonta. She has also studied at Penn State, SUNYs Albany and Binghamton, and at Cornell University, where she taught for two years with the Cornell Institute for Biology Teachers. Nancy enjoys rennovating old houses and gardens. She also collects old architectural pieces, dark green glass, porcelain bed pans and other whimsies. She and Bob share a home in Pierstown with three cats.
