The St.Augustine House

Our house in St. Augustine Beach is a contemporary brick ranch in a quiet, residential neighborhood, but within walking or biking distance to the beautiful sand beaches of Florida's east coast on the open Atlantic Ocean. St. Augustine Beach is a small city on Anastasia Island, separated from St. Augustine proper and the Florida mainland by the Intercoastal Waterway.

Our kitchen is large and stocked with all the dishes and flatware, pots and pans, and other cookware you'll need. The JennAire cooktop is located on a cook's island, and there is also a tall breakfast table in the kitchen complete with colorful wicker stools.

There is a large bay of windows at the other end of the kitchen not seen in these photos, making the kitchen bright and airy. The bay of windows looks out over the front patio. Two more kitchen windows look out onto the front yard. The kitchen also features a wall oven, a laundry center and a pantry.

A small formal dining room is just off the kitchen and is fully open to the living room. As a result, the entire house has a spaceous, open feeling about it.

A full bathroom opens to hall space between the living room and the dining room, making it easily accessible to the entire house during the day. This bathroom also opens to the the guest bedroom affording night time privacy to the guests staying in that bedroom.

Although the house has only two bedrooms, both are quite large. The guest bedroom is large enough to easily accommodate four twin beds as well as a large dresser. There is large walk-in closet in the guest bedroom as well, which includes linen shelves.

The master bedroom has its own private bath suite. The anteroom has double basins and plenty of vanity space. To the right of the anteroom is a large walk-in closet and to the left is another room with a bathtub and a toilet.

We're new to gardening in Florida and so we are always surprised and delighted when something new comes into bloom. I think these are calla lilies, but I don't really know. As we get comfortable with selecting and placing plants in this new environment, I'm sure we'll get to know the names of what grows here.
