The Eastport House

Our Eastport House was probably built during the 1800s and last updated in the 1970s. Except for a new roof, siding, and thermal windows, we've kept it pretty much as we found it. We know we'll do some landscaping work as we visit, and probably add a back deck.

Our kitchen is an old country kitchen well stocked with dishes,
glasses, flatware, pots, pans, and all kinds of cookware. We like the old-fashioned cabinets, but will eventually update the walls, floor and ceiling, as well as refinish the old cabinets.

The kitchen was large enough for us to include new laundry equipment. That exterior door you see leads to the driveway and the backyard.

The back door enters to the kitchen. This is the east face of the house and gets the morning sun. We are at the top of the East Hill and so we have a nice view. Our little backyard gets the sun all day, making it perfect for a future deck.

The dining room seats up to eight people. We'll add a maple hutch and dry sink- the period furnishings really seem to fit the house. The door to the left of the cabinet opens to the
kitchen, the door in the center opens to a pantry, and the one on the right leads to a back staircase.

The living room looks like the 70s, doesn't it? That green and gold wallpapercame with the house. Believe it or not, we found enough 70s furniture to go with it! We have no cable or
DISH yet, so Canadian TV is what we get. Mostly quaint English, but some French, too.
Bring movies or select from our supply.

It's a pretty big living room. Through the open door is a small foyer. The door you see in the foyer is the front door.
Beyond it is the staricase. There's also a closet in the foyer.

This is the study. Rob's checking his email. You can hook up to slow dial-up in the study, but the public library has free-use computers with much faster internet service also free WiFi. The study also has a really comfy rocker/recliner with a good reading lamp for catching up on that best seller. If you forget to bring the one you're reading, we have several on the shelves for you.

We bought the house in the winter and thought there was no garden. Imagine our surprise when this clematis showed up on the back of the shed!
