Irish pitching did not allow a single walk or hit a batter in either game vs. New Prague and Prior Lake over the weekend. 
Ben Scheffler had not hit a homerun in his amateur baseball career until 2007. He has 2 this season, both with men on base. 
Wade Schuknecht was plunked in the ribcage in the 7th inning Sunday night marking the 40th occurance of Irish hitters getting hit by pitches as opposed to just 22 hitters that Irish pitching has hit.
With his victory on Sunday night against the Carlos Cougars, pitcher Bill Dunker picked up career win number 100. 
In Monte Hennen's 14 years as coach of the Irish, they have a postseason record of 69-35, including a 43-15 record the past 6 seasons.
In their past 7 postseason games this season, the Irish pitching staff has allowed only 5 runs for a staff ERA of 0.89 with 5 shutouts.
New Market scored with one out in the 5th inning, breaking Bill Dunker's scoreless inning streak at 25 1/3 innings. This is his third scoreless streak of 20 innings or more in as many years, his top being 37 2/3 innings in 2004. 
Josh Simon's 6 for 6 effort was the one of the best performances in recent memory. The last closest guy to that feat was Cyril Simon on 5-5-95 when he was 5 for five.

State Tournament appearances for DRS teams:  Lonsdale has the most state appearances with 18.  The top finishes in the state tournament have been by Lonsdale who was runnerup, Lonsdale and Elko who finished 3rd, and St. Patrick, New Prague, Union Hill, and Montgomery, who all finished 4th.  A yearly breakdown is listed below:<o:p></o:p>
