Family Ski Trip
Troop 290 is planning a family ski trip for all of the Scouts
and their families the weekend of 1/22 to 1/24 2010. We will be
staying at the Boyne Valley Lodge, located at 03780 M- 75 North-
Walloon Lake, MI. For more information you can look at the
web site www.boynevalleylodge.com. This event is intended to be
a family event for the Scouts and at least one parent. The
whole family is encouraged to come. If a parent is not able to
attend this trip, please talk with Dave Johnson or Dave Foote
to discuss arrangements for your son to attend.
Directions from Grand Rapids: Take US- 131 North. Go past M -75
S at Boyne Falls( about 9 miles North of M-32) until you get to
M- 75 N at Walloon Lake. Turn left at blinker and go through
the village of Walloon Lake Boyne Valley Lodge is on left side
of road 1 mile off of US- 131.
Lodging Information: The Boyne Valley Lodge is a lodge that
will accommodated up to 156 people. It has 26 guest rooms that
can sleep up to 8 per room. The lodge specializes in group
events, and it is our hope that we can fill the entire lodge
with troop 290. They have a heated outdoor pool which will be
open Saturday evening. They also have a game room, and a great
room with a fireplace. For anyone who wants to Cross County
ski, they have a 4 mile trail at the Boyne Valley Lodge.
Skiing Information: We will be skiing at Nubs Nob. Ticket
prices are not available yet, but last year they were:
. Adults- $ 52- Ages 20 to 64
. Teen- $ 45- Ages 13 to 19
. Child- $ 38 Ages 9 to 12
. Kids- Free- Ages 8 and under
We will be able to purchase our lift tickets directly from the
Boyne Valley Lodge, when we check in. We will try and get a
room at Nubs were we can store gear and have our own lunch.
Ski and snowboard rentals will be arranged directly with the
Ski Resort. We will plan to ski on Saturday only. Anyone who
wishes to ski on Sunday can make their own separate
arrangements.
Cost: The cost for a family will be $92 per adult and $32 per
child 17 and under. If a scout goes without at least one
parent, the rate will be $79 for the scout. This includes 2
nights lodging and breakfast provided by the lodge on Saturday
and Sunday and Dinner on Saturday Night. Lift tickets and
rentals will be additional.
Rooming arrangements: We will need to have some flexibility
with the rooming arrangements depending on how many sign up,
ages and genders. For families traveling with 4 or more we will
place you in your own room.
