Why does the PTSA raise money during the year, and on what is the money spent?
Schools budgets have been cut tremendously in the past few years. The PTSA tries to fill the gapcreated by these budget cuts so that your child has the best possible experience at school. PTSAprovides numerous incentive awards for students throughout the year, such as perfect attendance rewards, accelerated reader awards, spelling bee tropies, FCAT medals, field day awards, end-of-year awardsand much more! In addition, we host several functions for our teachers, such as a "welcome back breakfast"and recognition during "teacher appreciation week." We also pay for some supplies, such as lamination paperused by the entire school. In previous years, we have paid for the electronic school marquee, keyboards forthe music department, CPR training equipment for the PE department, cap and gowns for the kindergarten class, and custom murals in the PE shelter area and cafeteria. The budget is voted on at the very first meeting in the fall.Back to Top
