Event Opportunities

 

To sign-up online, please contact Mrs. Dale. She will add your name to the sign-in sheet. To cancel, contact both Mrs. Dale and the appropriate contact person at least 48 hours in advance. You may also find a replacement for yourself, but please let everyone know that the person is replacing you!

Reminder: You must let either Mrs. Dale or Mrs. Starodub know if you plan to work an event by either signing up for the event at a Las Ninas meeting or by contacting us. We do not follow up on volunteer opportunities when we do not have any girls signed up!

 

It is your responsibility to request a specific shift time when appropriate!


Sunday, Nov.16, 2008: Palos Verdes Youth Football and Cheer End-of Season Banquets! Located @ Carson Community Center-801 East Carson St., Carson, CA. Four Volunteers are needed to help assist guests upon arrival and at Check-in table. There are two banquets being held @ noon and 5:30pm.  Note: If you work the earlier banquet, you will help with set-up and decorations! Banquet 1: Shift Time: 10:00am-1:00pm AND Banquet 2: Shift Time: 4:30pm-6:30pm (and Mrs. Caparis will be glad to drive you home after this banquet!) Please wear white blouse/shirt and black/gray/dark pants and comfortable dark close-toed shoes. Contact Person: Mrs. Georgia Caparis 310-378-9473, Cell 310-283-5390, email caparis7@msn.com. Sunday, November 16, 2008: Palos Verdes Youth Football and Cheer End-of-Season Banquets: Located @ Carson Community Center-801 East Carson Street, Carson, CA. There are two banquets being held.  Volunteers are needed to oversee Merchandise Table, help set-up, sell merchandise and clean-up. Two volunteers are needed at each banquet. The First Banquet is for Younger Kids-Shift Time: 11:30am-2:00pm. The Second Banquet is for the Older Kids-Shift Time: 5:00pm-8:00pm. Please wear white blouse/shirt and black/grey/blue pants and comfortable dark close-toed shoes. Contact Person: Judy O’Day 310-265-2265, 310-377-5173. 

Saturday, December 20,2008: “Cheer for Children” Christmas Party! Located @ Harbor-UCLA Medical Center. Los Angeles County Harbor-UCLA Medical Center is located @ 1000 W. Carson Street, Torrance, CA 90502 310-222-2345.  The Christmas Party is being held in the Hospital Party Room or lobby and is for children that are in the hospital and for those children that are receiving treatment as outpatients (ex. Chemotherapy or dialysis). Volunteers are needed from 11:00am-5:00pm.  Shift Times: Set-up (11:00am-1:00pm), Party (1:00pm-4:00pm), Clean-up (4:00pm-5:00pm). Go to Hospital’s main bldg. entrance off Carson St. (you will see sign for main entrance @ stoplight), the go through security, find the check-in DESK located in the lobby-ask for ‘Cheer for Children-Christmas Party’ and check-in with hospital personnel.  Wear Las Ninas t-shirts or white shirts/blouses, no jeans, comfortable shoes. Saturday, January 31: Community Helpline Directory Delivery:
Help deliver the Palos Verdes Peninsula Directory door to door on the peninsula. Meet at Ridgecrest Intermediate School @ 28915 Northbay Road in RPV. Shift times are from 7 am to approximately 9 am or 7 am to approximately 11 am (double route). Wear your Las Ninas shirt and comfortable shoes for walking. Parents can also volunteer to drive.
