Las  Ninas – OZZIE'S Back-to-School EVENT

DONATIONS NEEDED!


Earn Las Ninas Community Service hours with a donation of Back To School items for the OIC event on August 15th. We are collecting items to make school kits for the students attending the clinic at OIC.

 

Donations are needed of pens, pencils, erasers, sets of 12 colored pencils, crayons, highlighters, spiral notebooks, rulers, erasers, glue sticks, etc. We are hoping to assemble 50 of these kits with one of each of these items included in each kit, all inside an OIC drawstring bag. There will be 50 to 75 kids at the clinic that day!

There are some great deals on these items now at Target, Office Max, Staples etc.

A donation is requested of approx. $15 worth of items to earn 1 community service hour. With a maximum of 5 hours allowed. Please put together a mixed selection of these items so that we can make the kits for the kids.

BAKING OPPORTUNITY


What : Cookies for PVHS—Welcome Wagon— New Parent Orientation

When: Wednesday, August 17th.

Where: Drop off 2-4pm in the MPR at PVHS.

We would love donations of cookies (small sized please).  
It is not necessary (but appreciated) to provide a platter/dish.

THE HILLS ARE ALIVE RACE

When: Sat., August 13, 2016 – One shift available from 7:00am - 11:00am
Where: Ernie Howlett Park, 25851 Hawthorne Blvd., RHE

What: 55 high school-age and adult volunteers (bring your friends and family members!) are needed to assist with race registration, timing, snack & beverage preparation, awards distribution, water stations, and race course directions. Volunteers will receive a Race T-shirt, water bottle, & snacks.

PENINSULA HOLIDAY PARADE OF LIGHTS

When: Sat., December 3, 2016 – One shift available from 5:00pm – 8:00pm
Where: Meet outside the Edler Building, 608 Silver Spur Road

What: 25 high school-age volunteers are needed for distribution of glow bracelets before the parade to spectators and to carry parade unit sponsor banners in the parade. Volunteers will check-in at the intersection of Silver Spur Road & Drybank Drive (608 Silver Spur Road) at 5:00pm. Please note streets will have closed at 4:00pm, so park or get dropped off at the Promenade on the Peninsula Mall, Peninsula Center Shopping Center, or Bristol Farms and walk to this intersection. Because this event is taped for television replays, volunteers are encouraged to wear their organization’s shirt/sweatshirt/jacket, dress pants, dresses, and holiday items such as Santa hats and/or reindeer antlers! Volunteers will be able to watch themselves throughout the holidays on Cox Cable replays of the 2016 Parade of Lights.

COMMUNITY HELPLINE VOLUNTEERS

(Volunteers need to be at least 16 years old.)

A wonderful volunteer opportunity for teens and adults is being offered by Community Helpline, a confidential crisis and referral warmline that serves all of California.  The helpline is open 7 days from 7am to 10pm.

Community Helpline offers their 45 hr Listening & Communication Training Sessions in the Spring, Summer or Fall on Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 6-8:30pm.
