Important Rules

A Las Ninas member shall amass a minimum of 100 hours of volunteer service to Orthopaedic Hospital and 200 hours of service to the community during her Las Ninas years. A minimum of 50 hours of the hospital hours must be earned on-site.

The Community Service Award (Silver Heart) will be presented to every senior who has 300 hours over the required 200 hours and is a member in good standing, beginning with the class of 2012. The 2010 and 2011 classes must earn 200 over the required 200 hours.

Baking: 1 hour per cake, pie, loaf of bread, two dozen cupcakes, two dozen brownies, or two dozen cookies. Baking hours are limited to 50 during the first 200 hours of community service. After 200 hours, a member can earn an additional 25 hours for baking.

NO SHOWS: A no-show means not showing up for an assignment for which you have scheduled yourself. In the case of special hospital activity coordinated by Las Ninas, you may cancel by giving 48 hours notice to Orthopaedic Hosptial's Volunteer Office AND to the Las Ninas Hospital Volunteer Chairman. 
       

If you are unable to make a Community Service Commitment, you may: 
     1) Cancel by giving 48 hours notice or
     2) Find a replacement for yourself. 
 In either case, you must notify the Las Ninas Community Service Chairmen and the chairman/contact person responsible for the community service or function.
 
Hours assessed as penalty hours must be completed no later than 6 weeks after the event. Penalty hours do not count in the accumulation of total hours.
