Mr. Bryan Desloge, Leon County Commission Chair, and former Blessed Sacrament School student, visited our school during Catholic Schools Week and spoke to the fifth through eighth grade students about what it was like to attend Trinity (then called Blessed Sacrament School) and the importance of doing for others.  Because the theme of Catholic Schools Week was “Catholic Schools Celebrate Service,” his message was appropriate and timely.

Mr. Desloge remembered being taught by many of the same teachers in the audience. He recalled being a part of the Safety Patrol and taking a weekend “field trip” to Dog Island with teachers as an end of the year reward for their service; of playing in the woods (now a steep hill); of walking across Miccosukee with his class and teachers to Lafayette Park to enjoy a game of baseball; and told where the office and classrooms “used to be.”

After a period of reminiscing, he spoke about his medical supply business and how he has learned the importance of helping those needing assistance even if it may not be profitable for him.  He emphasized giving with gladness instead of giving and then expecting something in return.

He asked for ideas on how the students could give.  Many volunteered their answers from simple acts of kindness, to prayer, to larger social justice projects in which their classes have been involved.

We are proud of all our alums and especially thank Mr. Desloge for being a gift to our community and school.

Did you have Mrs. Hudson as a fifth grade teacher in the late 60's early 70's?  She left Blessed Sacrament School for a few years to have her children Deanna and Chris.  In the early 80's she returned to the now Trinity Catholic School to teach fifth grade again.  In the late 80's she moved to middle school to teach English and then to the position of Assistant Principal where she is still today.
