***language CD of adoption-specific terms ***language handbook(s): (***cultural info ***tips for Waiting, Travel, Enhancing bonding, and Productive parenting pointers*** and now/new: Phrases in Russian you can say in court)*** _RUSH Into English_ includes many phrases to help your child learn more English on his own, to encourage sharing, to make friends, to get help, and to fit in. _RUSH Into English_ now includes _TLC Little Books_, bilingual mini-readers to help your child transition from reading in Russian to reading in English. _Adopting From Russia_ is now accompanied by a CD-ROM of games to play on your computer (matching, multiple choice, and memory) after you are familiar with the phrases on the language CD. It's included as a gift; the price did not increase. :-) As of 2006, there are also illustrated, bilingual flashcards included as part of the _Adopting From Russia_ set. If you want to learn to read in Russian, here's your chance. The Cyrillic is included along with the English and the phonetic pronunciation. They are really cute...and helpful, too! (No increase in price.)
(on CDs in ALL languages): When you meet your child, In the bathroom, On the plane, Food and drinks, With your hosts, and Other helpful terms. (All info is in one handbook in the Russian/English and English/Russian sets; in the Mandarin and Spanish sets, lang. info is in a separate handbook from the other info.) Pertinent cultural information is presented as well.
'This is for you.' 'Sit down, please.' 'Good job!' 'Which one do you want?' 'It's time to wash hands.' 'I love you.' 'Do you want to play?' 'Everything will be alright.' (These or similar phrases appear on ALL the language CDs and are spelled phonetically in the handbooks to help you with pronunciation). _RUSH Into English_ includes many phrases like 'May I sit here?' 'Do you want half?' 'Are you busy?' and 'I don't need help.' The phrases are written in English to go along with the English on the CD.
We were able to understand much of what our son said to us because of our language study in the months before we traveled. Our hosts were impressed that we were able to talk to and interact with our son from 'Day 1.' You can have the same advantage! As of 2006: new materials have been added to enhance both the 'Adopting From Russia' set for parents (illustrated, bilingual flashcards) and the 'RUSH Into English' set for Russian-speaking children ('TLC Little Books' -- bilingual readers for children who read Cyrillic). Please click on 'Adopting From Russia' and 'RUSH Into English' above to get more details. Thanks! Teresa
