The Post Advisor

The Explorer Post is supervised by the Post Advisor, Officer John Hamrick.  
He is a police officer in our agency and is currently assigned to our K-9 
Unit with his K-9 partner Mojo.

As our advisor, he is responsible for the operation of the post, including 
developing the training schedule, preparing lesson plans, and teaching each 
training class.  

His assistant advisor is Craig Sawyer, a Sergeant with the Fairhope Police 
Department.

Goals & Objectives

The Explorer program is designed to offer young men and women valuable 
insight into the daily life of a police officer.  It is primarily geared 
towards young people who hope to one day become law enforcement officers.  
Our members have expressed interest in a career with local police 
departments, state police agencies, and federal agencies including the 
F.B.I., Secret Service, U.S. Marshalls, A.T.F., Customs, and more.  
Also, some members joined with the goal of learning skills that would serve 
them in a military career.
