Posted Wednesday December 17, 2008: There have been some major changes in
our post. I have stepped down as the post advisor and handed the reigns to
Officer John Hamrick. I am remaining as the post associate advisor, so as
far as Exploring goes, that makes Hamrick my boss. ;-)
Officer Hamrick has worked with the Explorers on several occasions,
including demonstrations with his K-9 partner Mojo. He has some great ideas
for the post and has been doing a great job so far.

These officers are certified to have Explorers as a ride-along: 122 Davis,
119 Johnson, 121 Gilheart, 115 Murray, 131 Scott, 134 Taylor, 116 Hamrick,
120 Hewitt, 138 Maye.
These Explorers have passed a written test and are certified to ride: E-11
and E-12.
If you are an Explorer age 16 or older, and you want to ride, ask Officer
Hamrick or Sgt. Sawyer. You need to pass a test on our radio codes and our
policies before you can ride.
You also must attend meetings regularly and participate in events to earn
service hours.
Remember, the radio room is not a hang-out. The only reason you should be
in there is to work or to sign the log book.

The Fairhope Police Department's Law Enforcement Explorer Post is running
strong. As of November 2008, we have completed our fourth full year as a
chartered post. We meet at the P.D. an average of twice a month to learn
about police work. We have some great ideas for training and activities.
If you are interested, ask one of us for more info.
The program is open to both males and females from age 15 to 21. You can
join at age 14 if you have completed the 8th grade. The department is at
107 N. Section Street in Fairhope next to city hall. The cost is $7.00 per
year.
If you would like more info, please contact Officer John Hamrick at (251)
928-2385 or e-mail Sgt. Craig Sawyer at Craig.Sawyer@cofairhope.com and I
will help you out.
