Community Service & Trips

Cpl. Brett Murray, Fairhope P.D.
bike unit, leads Explorers
McLaughlin and Har of the
Explorer Bike Unit during our
annual Arts and Crafts Festival.

The bike patrol is a great way to
move through crowded areas. It's
highly visible and covers more
area than a foot patrol could.

Explorers are able to work in the
communications room, answering
calls from citizens and working
the police radio.

Walmart donated Mongoose
bicycles, helmets and related
equipment to the police
department. The Chief of Police
assigned the equipment to the
Explorer post.

Explorers Welker, Har, and Cormier
on-board a U.S. Coast Guard vessel
on Lake Pontchartrain during our
trip. We were able to get a close
up view of some of the damage left
by Hurricane Katrina and watch the
Coast Guard performing some of
their duties.

Our group at Coast Guard Station
New Orleans. L-R, Explorers
Welker, Bigby, Har, McAnnally,
Cormier, and LTJG Thiel, U.S.
Coast Guard.

Two of our Explorers received the
President's Volunteer Service
Award (Gold) for service to our
community. Here they are
pictured with members of our
police reserve unit who also
received the award.
